Lobitos Ponchos
■ Our story

Our
story

A family business that grew out of a friendship, a few sewing machines and the wish to create opportunities at home.

  1. 2018

    A volunteer and two students

Lobitos is a small fishing town with a vibrant community of volunteers and surfers. In 2018, Tiíta came here to volunteer and taught English to two local teens, Kevyn and Ivan.

    The first poncho

Kevyn and Ivan started making surf ponchos to pay for their studies, and their grandmothers Mery and Irma sew them at home. Tiíta joined with photos and marketing.

  3. Since then

    Growing together

We turned fabric offcuts into accessories, went to markets and took our first business orders, with help from volunteers from around the world.

  4. Next

    What we dream of

More local people in the workshop, more sustainable materials and, one day, our own space in Lobitos where you can meet the people who sew your poncho.
